- Any item needing repair, except computers.
- Ammunition, weapons, including replicas.
- Automotive parts, including tires, batteries, motors.
- Baby gear, including furniture, car seats, strollers, high chairs, etc.
- Box springs and mattresses.
- Bowling balls.
Does goodwill take CDs and DVDs?
CDs, DVDs, Blu-Ray discs, video games—they’re all donate-able.
Does Goodwill accept towels?
Beyond that specific request, we welcome clean and stain-free linen and textiles including: Bedspreads, blankets, sheets, and towels. Curtains and draperies. Area and throw rugs.
Does Goodwill accept ceiling fans?
Goodwill accepts donations of clean, gently-used clothing and household items. We depend on the sale of these items to support our programs and services.

Can you donate bras to Goodwill?
Though donation guidelines vary by location, some may accept and sell clean, gently worn bras in their stores. Contact your local Goodwill to see if bras are an approved item are on their list. Post a message on social media asking for donations, then handle the collection and drop-off at a local shelter.

What items does Salvation Army not accept?
Items You Can’t Donate
However, Salvation Army stores don’t accept built-in appliances or kerosene appliances. They also refuse large console stereos and television sets and automobile parts, including wheels or tires. You can’t donate potentially dangerous or polluting items, such as chemicals or paint.
Where can I donate unused toiletries?
The Salvation Army is an international charity that helps those in need in a variety of ways. They accept unopened toiletry donations at many of their locations. Check with your local Salvation Army about drop-off or donation mailings and to see if they’re currently in need of toiletries.
Does goodwill recycle electronics?
We take electronics that are donated through our Goodwill Store & Donation Centers for recycling and refurbishment, and we also have a robust commercial recycling business.
Should I throw away old towels?
You should only be keeping towels for a couple of years, especially if you use them every day. Many animal shelters accept towels as donations, but use your judgement re: how worn out they are.
Can you donate used towels?
Linens: Goodwill and Salvation Army thrift stores accept towels, sheets, curtains, and such. To donate well-worn towels, call your local animal shelter. Often they take them to use for pet bedding and/or for cleanup rags.
Can I donate car seats to Goodwill?
No cribs, car seats, walkers or other products that do not meet the current safety standards of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, including recalled items.
What can you do with old ceiling fans?
Here are a few project ideas.
- Make a planter out of the motor housing of the fan. Spray paint the motor housing whatever colour you choose.
- Use old ceiling fan blades as wall hangings.
- Create a chalkboard or memo board from old fan blades.
- Use discarded ceiling fan lamp shades as flower planters.
- Make a mirror.

When it comes to donating old clothes (and old everything else), most people turn to big-name thrift stores like Goodwill and The Salvation Army. Also, some large thrift stores don’t accept bras at all.
Can you donate bathing suits to Goodwill?
underpants and bathing suits. They are just too personal, but that is just me. Places like Goodwill take them for sure. Two of my local mom and pop thrift shops take them, too.
